IMD: Snowfall in parts of HP and J&K; Rains expected in these states for the next five days

Light to moderate rain is expected over Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry for the next five days. While the weather is likely to remain dry at a few places over Puducherry and Karaikal.

New Delhi: The effect of fresh snowfall in other hilly states including Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh is visible in the field. It drizzled in Delhi-NCR on Wednesday. According to the Meteorological Department, it will be cloudy in some areas on Thursday. Apart from this, there is a possibility of a decrease in the minimum temperature. According to the late night updates released by the Meteorological Department, it may rain in some areas of West Bengal and Assam today.

There has been snowfall in Lahaul-Spiti and Kullu districts of Himachal including Narkanda, Khadapathar and other high altitude areas. The Lahaul Valley has once again covered itself with a blanket of snow. Due to fresh snowfall, 120 roads have been closed while Atal Tunnel has also been closed for vehicular movement. On the other hand, the Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of light rain and snowfall in the higher reaches of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Pithoragarh on Thursday in Uttarakhand.

The effect of the changed weather on the mountains has extended to Delhi and nearby cities. In NCR, there was light drizzle in some areas with strong winds in the morning. The maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 31.2 degrees while the minimum temperature was recorded at 17.8 degrees.

120 Roads closed due to snowfall in Himachal Pradesh
There has been fresh snowfall in Himachal’s Lahaul-Spiti and Kullu districts including Narkanda, Khadapathar and other high altitude areas. The higher reaches of the Lahaul Valley have again covered with snow. Due to fresh snowfall, 120 roads in the state have been closed. Rain was recorded in Shimla and other parts of the state on Tuesday night. Atal Tunnel Rohtang has been closed for vehicular movement due to fresh snowfall.

At the same time, the movement from Jalori Pass has also come to a standstill. 120 roads have been closed for traffic in the snow-bound areas. Normal life has been affected in district Kullu due to snowfall. Due to the fresh snowfall at both ends of the Atal Tunnel, the tunnel has been blocked for all types of vehicles.

Rains expected in Tamil Nadu and Karaikal
It rained at isolated places over Tamil Nadu and Karaikal. While the weather remained dry in the remaining parts of the Union Territory of Puducherry. The Meteorological Department (IMD) gave this information on Wednesday. The Meteorological Department said that various districts of Tamil Nadu received rainfall up to a few cm. Kadaladi in Ramanathapuram district, Valinokam, Tuticorin in Thoothukudi district received rainfall up to three cm each.

Kanyakumari in Kanyakumari district, Thalaignair in Nagapattinam district received two cm each and Ayyampettai, Tirukattupalli in Thanjavur district, Pallamorkulam in Ramanathapuram district, Srimushnam in Cuddalore district, Sattankulam ARG in Thoothukudi district received rainfall up to one cm each.

Light to moderate rain in these states for the next 5 days
Light to moderate rain is expected over Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry for the next five days. While the weather is likely to remain dry at a few places over Puducherry and Karaikal. According to IMD, it is expected to remain partly cloudy in the next 24 hours.
