A legal notice was issued by the parliamentarians of the ruling coalition government in August against Imran Khan for failing to disclose the revenues from the sale of gifts that he bought at a reduced price from the state repository, also known as Toshakhana. Therefore, government lawmakers have been demanding his disqualification.

After hearing the entire matter, the ECP on Friday issued a notice that cricketer turned politician Imran Khan is no longer a member of the National Assembly and his seat has been ruled vacant. Additionally, the commission has taken a decision to take legal action against Imran Khan.

Imran Khan, who swept into office in 2018, was given lavish gifts from rich Arab rulers during official visits. All the gifts were deposited at Toshakhana. Later, he purchased the gifted items at a low price and, after that, sold them at a sky-touching price.

According to Khan’s statement to the ECP, the gifts that he had acquired from the state treasury after paying Rs 21.56 million fetched about Rs 58 million. The gifts included a Graff wristwatch, a pair of cufflinks, an expensive pen, a ring, and four Rolex watches.
