Police in Ohio said three people were injured in a shootout outside a high school football game, which sent people on the field and spectators into stands running for cover.
Toledo (Ohio): Three people were shot outside the Whitmore High School football stadium on Friday night in Toledo, Ohio. There is no information about his current condition yet. After hearing the sound of gunshots outside the stadium, people present inside the stadium stand were seen running. At least three people were shot outside the Whitmore HS football stadium, according to police.
“At approximately 9:32 PM, a Toledo Police officer, who was working off-duty at the game, informed Lucas County Dispatch that shots were being fired at Whitmer Memorial Stadium,” the Toledo Police department said in a statement on October 8.
According to sources, after the sound of firing, there was a stampede in the stands of the stadium and people were seen running, due to which the game was stopped. The match between Whitmore High School and Central Catholic High School at the time of the firing incident was stopped for the time being. Police said that several shells of bullets were found scattered on the ground behind the field house.
After this incident, the schools issued a statement expressing their regret over the firing incident. “We are deeply saddened that tonight a fun match was interrupted by an incident of street violence around our event tonight,” the statement said. At this time we have limited information about it. We will not speculate until we get complete information about it. An incident like this is every school’s worst nightmare. We are trying to find out about the unknown people behind this dastardly act.
