India break ICC T20 World Cup semi-final hurdle after 10 years, defeat England to fix 2024 final spot

Captain Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant half-century and Suryakumar Yadav added 47 runs to help India post a challenging score of 171 and then Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets each to give India a big win over England in Guyana.

IND Vs ENG: In the second semi-final of T20 World Cup 2024, India defeated England and made it to the final. India will face South Africa in the final on Sunday (June 29) in Barbados. The Indian team has reached the final for the third time. In the first edition of the tournament in 2007, the team led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni became champion. Current captain Rohit Sharma was a part of that team. After this, the Indian team lost to Sri Lanka in the final in 2014.

In Barbados, the Indian team will be eyeing to end the 17-year wait. The Indian team has been waiting to win the ICC trophy for 11 years. The team is facing a drought since the Champions Trophy in 2013. England decided to bowl first in the second semi-final in Guyana due to rain.

The Indian team scored 171 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. The way the ball was staying down. This target was easy for England. However, the defending champion succumbed. ‘Bapu’ Akshar Patel made a dent in the English batting.
