India creates history at CWG 2022 by defeating SA, bags gold medal in lawn bowls

New Delhi: India created new history by winning gold in the women’s four finals of lawn balls on the fourth day of the 22nd Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Indian women’s team defeated South Africa 17-10 in the match. India has maintained its sixth position in the medal tally but now its total medal count has touched the double digit and with 4 gold medals, India has a total of 10 medals.

Earlier on Monday, on the fourth day of the Games, the Indian team could not get any gold medal. But he definitely put one silver and two bronze medals in his bag.

Today, gold medal was expected from India in the final of women’s lawn ball and the Indian team lived up to that expectation. Apart from this, gold medal is also expected from India in badminton mixed team event. On Monday, after defeating Singapore in the semi-finals, they confirmed their place in the final.

This is the first time that India has ever won a medal in this sport and what to say when it starts with a gold medal. Indian women’s team (4s) has created history by winning the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022. The praise of the Indian team is discussed everywhere. India’s Lovely Choubey, Pinky Singh, Roopa Rani Tirkey and Nayanmoni Saikia are the four players of this team, who won the fourth gold medal in India’s bag.

Lovely Choubey is from Jharkhand and she used to play long jump before playing this game. While playing Lovely’s long jump, she broke her hip bone. His father is a Group Four employee in Central Mine Design Limited. He could not do much for his daughter. But, during this game, he got hurt in his hip. As a result, she remained in bed for several months and was then called by Bihar Cricket umpire Madhukant Pathak to try her hand at lawn ball.

Lovely is now a constable in Jharkhand Police. Initially, he had no idea about this game. But, she was sharp of mind and soon understood the jack and target ball of the game.

While Roopa Rani Tirkey played Kabaddi first. She also came to the lawn ball. His father worked in the post office. After he left, Roopa’s mother took up the same job. His sister Reema Rani plays Tirkey cricket. Roopa is now the Sports District Officer in Ramgarh. It was Roopa who led India to victory against New Zealand.

Now the third mate of this team, Nayamoni Saikia, is also a constable in the Assam Police. and Pinky Singh is a physical education teacher at Delhi Public School, RK Puram (Delhi).
