Rohit Sharma has achieved a personal milestone as he became the first Indian batter to smack 500 sixes in international cricket. However, the hard-hitting Indian opener has been occupying the number-two spot just behind the West Indies’ swashbuckling Chris Gayle, and he is leading the chart with 553 maximums (in 483 matches).
Despite having a thumb injury while fielding at slip, he batted ninth and hit five sixes and three fours in the second ODI against Bangladesh. But his entertaining knock failed to bring victory to India.
Rohit has so far hit 502 sixes, Gayle has hit 553, and the other leading batters who get their names on this coveted list are Shahid Afridi former Pakistan allrounder (476 sixes), former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum (398 sixes), and New Zealand opener Martin Guptill (383 sixes), who are third, fourth, and fifth, respectively.
The hit man has so far accumulated 16,444 international runs in 428 matches, including 41 centuries (8 in Tests, 29 in ODIs, and 4 in T20Is).
