India ranks number one in T-20Is, Australia No.1 in Tests, and New Zealand occupies No.1 position in ODIs

India, under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, has achieved another landmark, finishing the 2021-22 season as the world’s number one ranked T20Is side. Credit should be given to Rohit and his boys for India’s remarkably good performances to reach the number one spot in the shortest format of the game.

In Test cricket, India is not far behind Australia. In the longest format of the game, India is just nine points behind the leader, Australia, in the Test rankings; New Zealand has been occupying the number one spot in one day cricket. As per the rankings revealed by the ICC on Wednesday.

Australia has been occupying the top ranking in red ball cricket as Pat Cummins’ side drubbed Pakistan in their backyard. However, Pakistan has surpassed England to claim fifth position in the ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings, as per the ICC release stated.

The recent performance of the English side has been quite poor, losing to the West Indies in a Test series. Even India crushed the English team on their soil in a Test series last year. Three Lions’ 88 rating points is their lowest since 1995, “the release added.

Australia, which thrashed England 4-0 in the Ashes in January, has moved from 119 to 128 rating points in the annual update that drops the 2018-19 season and reflects all series completed since May 2019.

India remains on top in T20Is, extending its lead over second-placed England. South Africa and Australia have left behind New Zealand, which is now in sixth place. Similarly, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are now ahead of Afghanistan (10th).

In the updated ODI rankings, New Zealand remains on top, but their lead over England is reduced from three to one point. The gap between England and third-placed Australia has increased from seven to 17 points.

Under the captaincy of Hitman, India has performed admirably in all formats of the game. The boys in blue are a great force in T-20 cricket. A new crop of players is emerging from the IPL. The talents of all the players are being revealed in the prestigious IPL. Rohit Sharma could help India win the upcoming T-20 World Cup to be held in Australia.
