The death toll on Sunday was recorded at 5,31,770 and the active cases comprised 0.03 per cent of the total infections with the recovery rate being at 98.78 per cent.

The number of people who had recuperated from the disease till Sunday surged to 4,44,33,389 and the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.18 per cent. According to the ministry’s website, 220.66 crore doses of Covid vaccine had been administered in the country till yesterday under the nationwide vaccination drive. India on Saturday logged 1,223 Covid infections in the last 24 hours while active cases dipped to 16,498 from 18,009.
