New Delhi: After a terrible spike in Corona cases, India is now seeing a declining trend in daily new Covid cases. On May 29, the country reported 1,73,790 fresh Covid-19 cases- making it the lowest daily rise in last 45 days. With this, the cumulative number of coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 27,729,247.
Meanwhile, the death toll climbed to 3,22,512 with 3,617 fresh Covid fatalities in the last 24 hours, according to the data updated by the health ministry.
Whereas, the active caseload has further declined to 22,28,724. While, daily recoveries continue to outnumber the daily new cases for the 16th consecutive day. A total of 2,84,601 patients recovered during the last 24 hours.
According to the health ministry, the weekly positivity rate currently stands at 9.84%, while daily positivity rate is 8.36%, less than 10% for 5 consecutive days.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, a total of 2,080,048 samples were tested in the last 24 hours in the country and cumulatively 341,119,909 tests have been done so far.
India’s Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16.
It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19. India crossed the grim milestone of 2 crore cases on May 4.
