India reports 1,890 fresh coronavirus cases, the highest in 149 days; 9433 Active cases

New Delhi: 1890 New cases of corona virus have been reported in India, which is the highest in 149 days. After this the number of patients under treatment increased to 9433. The Union Health Ministry gave this information on Sunday. In October last year, 2208 cases were reported in a single day in the country.

The ministry said that due to the death of seven more infected people, the death toll has increased to 5,30,831. Of these, two deaths each occurred in Maharashtra and Gujarat in a span of 24 hours, while Kerala reported the death of three patients after tallying its earlier records. The daily infection rate was recorded at 1.56 percent while the weekly infection rate was 1.29 percent. The total cases of Covid-19 have increased to 4.47 crore (4,47,04,147).

According to the ministry’s website, 220.65 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

The Ministry said that the number of patients under treatment is 0.02 percent of the total cases while the national rate of recovery from infection is 98.79 percent. So far 4,41,63,883 people have been cured of the infection while the death rate is 1.19 percent. According to the ministry’s website, 220.65 crore doses of anti-covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination campaign.

Amidst the gradual increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in Delhi in recent days, some medical experts say that the new XBB.1.16 variant may be the reason for the increase in cases, but there is no need to panic. He said that people should follow Covid-appropriate behavior and take booster doses of vaccines if not taken.

Experts also said that many people may have taken the Covid test as a precautionary measure for fever and related ailments caused by influenza virus, which may have led to this increase in infection cases. In the last one week, there has been a sharp rise in H3N2 influenza cases in some parts of the country including the national capital.

On Friday, 150 new cases of corona virus infection were reported in Delhi and the infection rate was 6.66 percent. A day before this, 117 cases were reported and the infection rate was 4.95 percent. There has been a doubling of infection cases since Tuesday. On Tuesday, 83 cases of infection were reported and the infection rate was 5.83 percent while one case of death was reported.
