The third T20I between India and New Zealand was played at McLean Park, Napier. India was 1-0 ahead in the three-match series. The hosts, New Zealand, had a chance to level the series. Despite the absence of some frontline players from India, the bench strength of the men in blue did extremely well in the second match, and India outplayed the Black Caps in all departments of the game thanks to a stupendous hundred by Surya Kumar Yadav. The first match was washed out

In the deciding T20 match, the hosts won the toss and elected to bat first at McLean Park, Napier. Indian bowlers have been on target since the beginning of the Kiwis’ innings on the bowlers’ friendly track. All the frontline bowlers bowled with sheer planning and never allowed the Kiwi batters to score freely. Arshdeep and Siraj both grabbed 4 wickets each. New Zealand was bowled out for 160 in the 20th over. The hosts really missed their captain, Williamson.

Indian batters failed to provide a solid start. Both the openers, Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant, went to the dugout cheaply, scoring 10 and 11, respectively. The man of the moment, Surya Kumar Yadav, rarely fails and got out for 13 in 10 balls, and after that, Shreyas Iyer left the field without opening his accounts.

Hardik Pandya, the captain, and Deepak Hooda stayed on the field and knit 15 of 15 deliveries. When rain interrupted the game, India was 75 for 4, needing 86 runs in 66 balls. The match was poised to be a thrilling finish.
