New Delhi: On Friday, India recorded 17,070 new cases of the novel coronavirus, taking the overall tally to 4,34,69,234, according to the Union Health Ministry data. The death toll jumped to 5,25,139 with 23 more fatalities.

The total active cases of COVID-19 in India have risen to 1,07,189, the health ministry data showed today. Yesterday, the registered active cases were 1,04,555. The ministry also informed that 14,413 recoveries were reported in India on Friday, pushing the country’s total recoveries to 4,28,36,906 – a recovery rate of 98.55 per cent.

The daily positivity rate stands at 3.40% and the weekly positivity rate is at 3.59%. The top five states which have registered maximum cases are Kerala with 4,083 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 3,640 cases, Tamil Nadu with 2,069 cases, West Bengal with 1,524 cases and Karnataka with 1,046 cases. These five states accounted for 72.42 per cent of the new cases, with Kerala alone responsible for 23.92 per cent of the new cases.

Meanwhile, In India, as many as 197.74 crore have been administered with the Covid-19 vaccine. OF which 91.61 crore people are fully vaccinated, as per the Centre’s data. India has administered a total of 11,67,503 doses in the last 24 hours.
