India successfully wins bid to host women’s 50-over World Cup in 2025

New Delhi: India has successfully won the bid to host the women’s 50-over World Cup in 2025. BCCI submitted its proposal, which was approved for the mega event during the annual conference held in Birmingham on Tuesday.

Three other events for women’s cricket were also decided on the day. Bangladesh has been awarded the right to host the 2024 T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, England successfully won the bidding rights for the 2026 edition of the T-20 women’s World Cup. Sri Lanka has been able to win the hosting rights of the inaugural T20 Champions Trophy in 2027.

However, the ICC has taken the decision to terminate Cricket Russia’s membership. According to the ICC, Cricket Russia didn’t have the appropriate status, structure, recognition, membership, and competence to be recognised by the ICC.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s application for ICC membership has been delayed because cricket activity is in a dilapidated condition in the war-torn country. The world body has assured to help the Ukraine Cricket Federation in all ways.

ICC appoints Laxman to its cricket committee

VVS Laxman (very very special) of India has been appointed to the ICC Men’s Cricket Committee as the current player representative, alongside former New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori. Former West Indies allrounder Roger Harper has been included as the past player representative on the committee.
