India defeated Australia today by 31 runs in the first Test match played at the Adelaide as they ended a decade-old drought and lead the four-match Test series by 1-0. Pujara was again brilliant after thrashing stupendous century in the first innings he managed to score smooth fifty in the second innings.
It was not that easy for the Indian team as Australian lower-order batsmen put up a formidable show and were looking in no mood to bow down in front of the Indian bowling line-up.
Nathan Lyon remained unbeaten 38 off 47 balls and the at the other end he got brilliant support form the bowlers and at one point it looked like Australia had chances to bounce back to the game. However, Indian bowlers made the most each and every opportunity and claimed wickets at regular intervals with Jasprit Bumrah, Ashwin and Mohammed Shami getting three wickets each.
The next Test will begin on December 14 at Perth and it will be an interesting encounter as Australia will be looking forward to bounce back while India will make the most of this opportunity to maintain lead in the series.
