Indian-American Neal Mohan to take over YouTube as CEO : Know about him

New Delhi: There has been a big change in the leadership of the video streaming platform YouTube. YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki has resigned from her post. Neel Mohan of Indian origin will replace Susan Wojcicki. Neil Mohan is currently the Chief Product Officer of YouTube.

Susan Wojcicki has announced her resignation by writing a letter. She has said that she is going to start a new chapter of her life. She will start a new work regarding her family, health and personal projects. For the last nine years, she was working on the lead role in Alphabet’s video streaming platform YouTube.

Let us tell you that Susan Wojcicki has been associated with YouTube’s parent company Google since the early days. This was when the two founders of Google were working in a garage in California to build a search engine. Later she became the 16th employee of Google and she has been associated with the company for 25 years.

Congratulating Neil Mohan, Susan Wojcicki said that what we are doing in shorts, streaming and subscription is fantastic. With the promise of artificial intelligence, YouTube’s most exciting opportunities lie ahead, and Neil is the right person to lead us.

Susan said that Neel Mohan is a brilliant leader and he understands better than anyone what this platform needs now and in the future. Susan said that she will remain with the company during the transition period and will continue to help Neel Mohan. Susan will now serve as a consultant at Google and Alphabet. He said that he still has as much faith in YouTube as he had 9 years ago. YouTube’s best days are yet to come.

Who is Neel Mohan

Neil Mohan became part of YouTube’s parent company Google in 2008. He is a Stanford graduate. Prior to becoming YouTube’s CEO, he served as the company’s chief product officer. Previously, Mohan has also worked with Microsoft and sits on the boards of Stitch Fix and genomics and biotechnology company 23andMe. Mohan and Wojcicki have worked together for nearly 15 years. He came to Google during the DoubleClick acquisition in 2007 and later became senior vice president of display and video ads. He became the Chief Product Officer of YouTube in 2015.

Mohan worked for prestigious companies like Google and completed a brief internship at Microsoft early in his career. He oversaw the Display and Video Advertising division at Google, where he was in charge of the company’s YouTube, Google Display Network, AdSense, AdMob and DoubleClick ad technology product services. In addition, Mohan leads YouTube’s trust and safety team that oversees the creation and enforcement of platform policies and community guidelines governing the content available on the platform.

He forecasts Google to earn an estimated $7 billion this year. Neil Mohan, an Indian-American executive, has received a whopping $100 million bonus from Google to stop him from accepting a position at Twitter, reports Firstpost. He received a payment of $100 million at the time, TechCrunch reports, and according to Business Insider, considering the price of Google stock at the time, those shares are now likely worth around $150 million.
