Indian Army and J-K Police Pay Tributes to 5 Soldiers Martyred in Rajouri Encounter

Jammu and Kashmir: A 36-hour-long gunfight in the Bajimaal area of Darmsal, Rajouri district, resulted in the killing of two terrorists, including a top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander trained in Afghanistan, and five soldiers, including two captains.

The Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police organized a wreath-laying ceremony at Army General Hospital Rajouri to pay floral tributes to the martyred soldiers.

Martyred Soldiers:

Captain MV Pranjal (63 RR), Captain Shubham Gupta (9 Para), Havaldar Abdul Majid (Para), Lance Naik Sanjay Bist, and Paratrooper Sachin Laur lost their lives in the encounter.

Personal Details of Martyred Soldiers:

Captain Pranjal is survived by his wife Aditi G, Captain Gupta leaves behind his father Basant Kumar Gupta, Havaldar Majid is survived by his wife Sagera Bi and three children, and Lance Naik Bisht and Paratrooper Laur leave behind their mothers Manju Devi and Bhagvati Devi, respectively.

The mortal remains of the martyred soldiers are being sent to their respective native places for the last rites.

In addition to the soldiers’ casualties, the encounter resulted in the neutralization of two terrorists, including a notorious LeT commander and sniper known as Quari. The Army recovered significant quantities of ‘War Like Stores’ from the encounter site.

Significance of Eliminating Quari:

Quari was known for orchestrating several attacks, including the Dangri incident, where six innocent civilians lost their lives, and the Kandi attacks in Rajouri’s Poonch areas. His elimination is considered a significant blow to the revival of terrorism in these districts.

The ceremony paid homage to the sacrifice of the soldiers and highlighted the challenges faced by security forces in counter-terrorism operations in the region.
