Indian Army Denies Rahul Gandhi’s Claims About Agniveer Compensation

The Indian Army has responded to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s claims regarding the compensation for Agniveers, specifically the case of Agniveer Ajay Kumar. Gandhi criticized the Agnipath recruitment scheme and claimed that the government does not recognize Agniveers as martyrs and does not provide compensation to their families.

Compensation Details
The family of Agniveer Ajay Kumar has received Rs 98.39 lakhs.
An additional Rs 67 lakhs, as per the Agniveer Scheme, will be paid after police verification, bringing the total compensation to approximately Rs 1.65 crores.

The Indian Army addressed false information on social media about non-payment of compensation.
The Army emphasized that it honors the sacrifice of fallen soldiers and ensures quick payment to their families.

Rahul Gandhi’s Allegations

Rahul Gandhi alleged in Parliament that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh lied about the compensation for Agniveers.
Gandhi shared a video of the father of a deceased Agniveer claiming that no compensation was received despite official statements.

Indian Army’s Response
The Army reiterated that the total compensation of Rs 1.65 crores includes both ex-gratia and other benefits.
The Army stressed its commitment to supporting the families of fallen soldiers, including Agniveers.
Political Reactions:

Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accused the BJP of disrespecting the sacrifices of military families.
Rahul Gandhi called for an end to the Agnipath recruitment scheme and a return to regular military recruitment.

Rajnath Singh defended the Agnipath scheme, noting the consultations held with 158 organizations before its launch.
Singh stated that any Agniveer killed in action receives a compensation of Rs 1 crore and accused Gandhi of misleading Parliament.

The Indian Army’s response aims to clear up any confusion about the compensation provided to Agniveers and reaffirm its support for military families.
