The Indian Coast Guard has seized 32.689 kg of gold by entering the sea from the Mannar region of Tamil Nadu, the value of which is said to be Rs 20 crore.
CHENNAI: The Indian Coast Guard, in a joint operation with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and Customs, seized 32.689 kg of gold, estimated to be worth around Rs 20 crore in the international market, from the Mannar area in Tamil Nadu. According to information, gold was being brought from Sri Lanka to India in a fishing boat. On the basis of intelligence, the Indian Coast Guard entered the sea and carried out this operation. This operation of Coast Guard is no less than a film style.
Operation started on the basis of intelligence
Giving details about the operation, Inspector General of the Indian Coast Guard Manish Pathak, Deputy Director General Operations said that according to an official release, gold worth about Rs 20.0 crore was being smuggled from India to Sri Lanka. The seizure was made on the basis of a specific intelligence input by the DRI regarding drug smuggling between Sri Lanka and India, following which the operation was carried out by the Indian Coast Guard and DRI on 30 May.
Drugs worth 12 thousand crores were caught in Kerala
Explain that on May 13, the Indian Navy and NCB seized drugs worth about Rs 12,000 crore from the Kochi coast of Kerala under the operation. It was told that a Pakistani national was also detained in the raid. This action has been taken under ‘Operation Samudragupt’, a campaign against drug trafficking.
