Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja refutes father’s allegations, says it ‘nonsense interview’

New Delhi: India cricketer Ravindra Jadeja has dismissed allegations of strained relations between his father, calling the senior Jadeja’s interview with a popular daily meaningless and scripted. Now Jadeja has responded to the allegations through a post on X (formerly Twitter), denying all the allegations and calling them an attempt to tarnish his wife’s image.

Jadeja’s father Anirudh Singh, in a shocking allegation, said that problems in their relationship started after the cricketer married Rivaba in April 2016. Jadeja responded in his mother-tongue stating that the comments made in the interview are baseless and are being projected one-sided. He denied the allegations while also saying that an attempt is being to tarnish his wife’s image who is also an MLA from Jamnagar Constituency from Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP).

On social media platform X, Jadeja shared a post, asking not to trust “scripted interviews”. The India all-rounder also said that attempts are being made to tarnish the reputation of him and his wife, who is a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly from Jamnagar North Assembly constituency. On Friday, Jadeja wrote,“Let’s ignore what’s said in scripted interviews.”

Ravindra Jadeja also clarified that doesn’t want to open up in public despite the fact that he has a lot of things to say. Jadeja’s father said,”He is my son, and it burns my heart. I wish I hadn’t gotten him married. It would have been better if he hadn’t become a cricketer. We would not have to go through all this in that case.”

He aaded,”Within three months of the marriage, she told me that everything should be transferred to her name. She created a rift in our family. She didn’t want the family and desired an independent life. I could be wrong, and Naynaba (Ravindra’s sister) could be wrong, but you tell me, how can all 50 members of our family be wrong? There’s no relation with anyone in the family; there’s just hate.”

Cricketer is currently recovering from a hamstring injury which ruled him out of India’s second Test against Ben Stokes’ England in Visakhapatnam. It was only on Thursday (February 8) that Jadeja completed 15 years in international cricket having made his debut at the highest level in an ODI against Sri Lanka in February 2009. He had also shared a video quoting it as ’15 years of living my dream’.The southpaw sustained the injury in the Hyderabad Test, after which Sourabh Kumar and Washington Sundar replaced him in the squad in Vizag.

It remains to be seen if Jadeja recovers in time and gets picked in the Indian squad for the last 3 Tests to be held in Rajkot, Ranchi and Dharamsala. He was one of the top performers for India in the first Test played in Hyderabad scoring 80-odd runs in the first innings. But he got injured while stealing a run in the second innings and also got run-out courtesy of a brilliance from Ben Stokes.
