Indian cricketer Smriti draws her inspiration from Sangakkara

Indian women cricketer Smriti Mandhana who grabbed the eye balls in the ongoing Women’s World Cup 2017 with her two splendid knocks draws her inspiration from the Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara, says her coach Anant Tambvekar.

Team India seems much confident in the current mammoth tournament as they are continuing their winning streak in the league matches of Women’s World Cup and Smriti is playing a crucial role in India’s win as she piled up 196 runs in the two league matches played which comprises of a superb hundred against West Indies.

Stating the dedication and discipline of Smriti Mandhana her coach Anant Tambvekar went on to say: “Smriti was very lovely since her childhood. But at the nets, she was extremely disciplined. She never used to leave the nets unless she had mastered a shot. Later on, she became a fan of Kumar Sangakkara. In the nets, she always tried to copy Sangkkara while batting. Sometimes I had scolded her for trying to copy the Sri Lankan great.”
