New Delhi: Railways will be painted in the color of freedom for a whole week. The unique contribution of martyr freedom fighters will be highlighted. At the same time, there will be decoration of stations during this week. Video clips of films made on freedom fighters will be shown on the platforms. Along with this, patriotism will be played. Street plays will be staged at different stations.
On the completion of 75 years of independence, Railways has started the iconic week ‘Azadi Ki Train and Station’. During this, the role of railway stations and trains associated with the Indian freedom struggle will be shown. For this 75 stations and 27 trains have been selected. In the program organized in the Railway Board, Railway Board Chairman Vinay Kumar Tripathi said that a program inspired by patriotism will be organized during this time. A museum and selfie point will be built at the station. With this people can see the Amrit Festival program of freedom on the world stage. Photo gallery and display boards will be installed at the station by July 23. The identified trains will be decorated. The special thing is that these trains will be flagged off by the freedom fighters or their descendants in the presence of the people’s representatives of that area.
Ashutosh Gangal, General Manager, Northern Railway said that the complete outline of this program has been prepared. Stations related to freedom struggle and trains related to freedom struggle will be decorated in the five divisions of Northern Railway.VK Tripathi, chairman and CEO of Railway Board, said, While the stations will be called “Swatantrata stations”, the trains will be called “spotlight trains”.“As part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the event ‘Azadi Ki Rail Gadi aur Stations’ will be held during this week called as ‘Iconic Week’ under the overall spirit of ‘Jan Bhagidari and Jan Andolan which will showcase the convergence of values and glories of the freedom struggle of the past with the aspirations and dreams of a young, new and iconic India,” Tripathi said. This week will culminate with the milestone function on July 23, he added.
Delhi Railway Divisional Manager Dimpy Garg said that the program is being organized mainly at Palwal, Meerut, Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil, Kakori, Khatkarkalan, Bhagtanwala, Amritsar, Charbagh and Sunam Udham Singh stations. The identified trains include 12953/54 August Kranti Express (Mumbai Central-Hazrat Nizamuddin), 15273/74 Satyagraha Express (Raxaul Junction-Anand Vihar Terminal), 12312/11 Netaji Express (Kalka-Howrah Junction), 13005/06 Howrah Mail. (Howrah Junction-Amritsar) and 12903/04 Frontier Mail (Mumbai Central-Amritsar).
