Mumbai: Indian women’s track athlete Parul Chaudhary has created a new national record in 3000 meters race. He finished the race in 8:57.91, surpassing the previous record. 27-year-old Parul achieved this feat in the Sound Running Sunset Tour Los Angeles.

Earlier this record was held 6 years ago, in April 2016 in the name of Surya Loganathan who took 9:04.5 for this 3000m race. Loganathan made this record in New Delhi. In this way he surpassed this record by a margin of 7 seconds.
Chaudhary was trailing at fifth spot in the race, but the Indian gained momentum in the last two laps to claim a podium finish.
The 3000m is a non-Olympic event in which the Indians don’t often compete in.
Parul Chaudhary will now be seen competing in the 3000m steeplechase at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon, USA. At the beginning of the year, he achieved his personal best during the month of March and finished the race with a timing of 9:38.29.
