IndiGo, India’s largest airline, has introduced a special offer to assist passengers traveling to or from Delhi during the upcoming G20 Summit. Recognizing the traffic restrictions in place due to the summit, which is scheduled for September 9 and 10 in the national capital, IndiGo has announced a one-time waiver for affected travelers.
This offer will be applicable for a limited period, from September 8 to September 11, 2023. IndiGo, headquartered in the tech hub of Gurugram near Delhi, aims to provide flexibility to its passengers during this period.
In an official press release, the airline stated, “Due to the G20 Summit 2023 taking place in New Delhi, IndiGo is offering a one-time waiver to passengers traveling to and from Delhi between September 8 to 11, 2023. Customers are being offered the option of rescheduling or canceling their flights with refunds. Passengers have been notified about flight cancellations and schedule changes in advance. For any further inquiries, passengers are encouraged to contact our customer care numbers at 0124 6173838 or 0124 4973838.”
IndiGo’s announcement follows a similar initiative by Air India, which is owned by the Tata Group. Air India also offered a one-time waiver to passengers traveling to or from Delhi between September 7 and 11, 2023.
With extensive security measures, including traffic restrictions, in place for the G20 Summit, accessing the airport in Delhi during this period may require special considerations. While there is no formal lockdown in the city, commuters are advised to adhere to the guidelines provided by the Delhi Traffic Police. Metro services, which will operate normally during the two-day summit, offer a convenient option for reaching the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport and other parts of the capital. The Supreme Court station, located near the summit venue, will be inaccessible to commuters during this time.
Private vehicle travelers are urged to follow the recommended routes provided by the Delhi Traffic Police to navigate the city during the G20 Summit.
