Infosys boss Narayana Murthy congratulates Rishi Sunak on his selection as Britain’s new prime minister; says ‘we are proud’ 

The IT industry veteran and co-founder of Infosys, NR Narayana Murthy, congratulated son-in-law Rishi Sunak on his selection as Britain's new prime minister on Tuesday.

London: Rishi Sunak, 42, is ready to take oath as the prime minister of the UK after the resignation of Liz Truss. She took charge earlier in September.

The IT industry veteran and co-founder of Infosys, NR Narayana Murthy, congratulated son-in-law Rishi Sunak on his selection as Britain’s new prime minister on Tuesday. He wished him a successful tenure.

In his congratulatory message, he said, “Congratulations to Rishi. We are really proud of his success and are confident that he will bring prosperity to the people of the UK.

Narayana Murthy said in his first comments amidst Sunak’s win in the race for the UK’s PM. He will now lead both the United Kingdom and the Conservative Party, reported a news agency.

The Indian-origin PM elect has to take charge of the country’s leadership at a time when the country is passing through a sluggish economy and energy woes. Rishi Sunak worked as the UK’s chancellor when Boris Johnson was the prime minister of the country. He got a lot of appreciation for his economic policies during the pandemic.

Sunak was the contender for the PM post against Truss but lost to her by a margin of about 20,000 votes. Truss stepped down as PM on Thursday amid the country’s staggering economy. The poor economic conditions forced her to resign. She has the distinction of having worked as the UK’s PM for the shortest period in the country’s history.
