Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta (formerly known as Facebook), has introduced this fresh addition to WhatsApp’s range of features. The screen sharing functionality empowers users to exhibit a real-time display of their screens to one or more participants during a video call. This versatility transcends various platforms, ensuring effortless sharing across different devices.

As per WhatsApp’s official announcement, this feature enhances multiple scenarios, including showcasing work documents, exchanging family photographs, coordinating travel itineraries, engaging in joint online shopping, or even providing technical support to grandparents. Users must have the latest version of WhatsApp installed to access this capability. While engaged in a video call, a newly introduced ‘Share’ icon positioned at the lower portion of the screen bestows screen sharing privileges. Upon tapping this icon, users are prompted to grant authorization for screen sharing, subsequently transmitting their screen content to the other participant(s).

It is noteworthy that the rollout of this feature is being executed in stages, leading to varying availability. While certain users may already be enjoying this feature, others might experience a slight delay before gaining access.

Furthermore, this screen sharing attribute accommodates landscape mode for video calls, proving especially advantageous for desktop platforms. This orientation offers a wider and more immersive visual encounter, thus amplifying the practicality of screen sharing across diverse applications.
