iPhone ‘Self Service Repair’ lets users mend broken screen, damaged battery at home

New York: Apple, located in Cupertino, has announced the availability of Self Service Repair, but only in the United States for the time being. Users may use the application to fix their broken iPhones from the comfort of their own homes. The Apple Self Service Repair Store, which is part of the software, supplies repair guides as well as real parts and tools. For the time being, the service is only available on iPhones.

Only in the United States is Apple Self Service Repair accessible. The corporation has guaranteed, however, that the initiative would be expanded to more nations, starting with Europe later this year. Given the importance of India as a market for the corporation, it’s probable that the service would be released there very soon.

Customers can fix the screen, battery, and camera of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models, as well as the iPhone SE, with more than 200 different components and tools available through Apple’s new online shop (3rd generation). By the end of the year, the business plans to offer guides, components, and equipment for doing repairs on Mac computers that use Apple silicon.

They will then need to visit the Apple Self Service Repair Store and order the necessary parts and tools. The tool kit includes — torque drivers, repair trays, display and battery presses, and more. Customers who do not wish to purchase these tools and also rent them at $49, which is around Rs 3700, for a week.

How to fix a broken iPhone at home

Customers must first check the repair manual for the device they wish to fix at support.apple.com/self-service-repair before attempting to repair it. They must then go to the Apple Self Service Repair Store and place an order for the required components and tools. Torque drivers, repair trays, display and battery presses, and other tools are included in the tool kit. Customers who do not desire to purchase these instruments may hire them for a week for $49 (about Rs 3700).
