Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) easily surpassed Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 20 runs at Pune to move into third place in the points table. LSG piled up 153 runs. Quinton de Kock was the top scorer with 46. Krunal Pandya bowled one of the most economical spells in IPL history, grabbing 2 wickets and conceding just 11 runs in four overs, and was adjudged player of the match.
GT to face RCB
Two matches will take place today. In the first match at noon, the leaders of IPL 2022, Gujarat Titans (GT), will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.
What’s ailing superlative Kohli? It seems his bats are made of edges. The think tank of RCB has to move a magic stick to bring back Kohli’s old form as soon as possible. The Royal Challengers Bangalore head coach, Sanjay Bangar, has stressed that the former captain will soon emerge from the tough phase. RCB’s fate very much depends on Kohli’s form as well. But when will the rut end?
Gujarat Titans are well placed and performing like a champion. Hardik Pandya has been leading the side admirably. Reading every match with a different angel is the crucial part of Pandya’s captaincy. Currently, the morale of GT players is on the seventh sky. The team would like to repeat the same performance in today’s match.
Royal Challengers Bangalore are currently fifth in the table, having won five of their last nine games. RCB have many match winners. The team needs to click at the right time. The skipper, Faf du Plessis, has to lead from the front and keep the morale of the players high.
It is expected that the winning captain will prefer to bat first because dew is not an issue in the noon game. The last two afternoon matches at the venue have gone in favour of teams batting first.
RR gear up against MI
The evening encounter will take place between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai.
So far, IPL 2022 has been a disaster for MI, as the team has yet to win a game.It seems the road to MI is over with eight losses in a row. Traditionally known as the slow starter, MI will look to register their first victory tonight against a confident RR. Remember, RR will step down with three consecutive wins
Remembering Shane Warne
It will be a special occasion for RR, who will be commemorating and celebrating the remarkable career of the “first Royal” (as they call him) Shane Warne, who died recently due to cardiac arrest. The players will have special kits for tonight’s encounter against MI with ‘SW23‘ on their collars.
MI have to be careful against Jos Buttler’s sparkling form . The man is in tremendous touch, batting like a czar in this edition of the IPL. Batting against the spin duo of R Ashwin and Chahal will be another difficult task for the RCB batters.
Since 2018, RR have won 6 out of 9 games; their winning percentage is 66.67, which is the highest for any team against the five-time champions.
Both matches are likely to be full of excitement. The better team will win. Mumbai Indians have a chance to end the long draught of victory.
