UP New DGP: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath appointed 1988 batch IPS Vijay Kumar as the new acting DGP of UP. He will hold the additional charge of Acting DGP with DG Vigilance, DG CBCID. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued orders in this regard. Present DGP RK Vishwakarma will retire today by handing over the charge of DGP to IPS Vijay Kumar

On May 11, 2022, the state government removed Mukul Goyal, the full-time DGP of the government, from the post. After this, Uttar Pradesh has not yet got a full-time DGP. After Mukul Goyal, the government appointed DG Intelligence D.S. Chauhan was made the acting DGP. Then R. Of. Vishwakarma and now Vijay Kumar has got the charge.

Vijay Kumar is going to retire on January 2024. In such a situation, he will remain on the post of acting DGP for 7 to 8 months. Let’s also fulfill this criteria of DGP, in which it is necessary to have at least 6 months of tenure left. Apart from Vijay, the names of Mukul Goyal and Anand Kumar were also running ahead in this race.

Could not get full time DGP for one year

Uttar Pradesh, the country’s largest state, has to run its work with the help of an acting DGP for the last one year. On 11 May 2022, full time DGP Mukul Goyal was suddenly removed. After this, DG Intelligence DS Chauhan was made acting DGP. DG Police Recruitment Board RK Vishwakarma was made acting DGP after the retirement of DS Chauhan on 31 March 2023. RK Vishwakarma retired on 30 May 2023. Now IPS Vijay Kumar has been appointed as acting DGP.
