The Moon mission has been smooth so far and ISRO is hopeful that the Vikram lander will soft-land on the lunar surface on August 23, later this month.
New Delhi: The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has released the first picture of the Moon captured by Chandrayaan 3, India’s third unmanned moon mission. Chandrayaan-3 took these pictures after entering the Moon’s orbit on Saturday. The official Twitter handle of the mission tweeted that the Moon as seen by the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft during its insertion into lunar orbit on August 5, 2023.

The Moon mission has been smooth so far and ISRO is hopeful that the Vikram lander will soft-land on the lunar surface on August 23, later this month.
Significantly, India’s third unmanned lunar mission ‘Chandrayaan-3’ successfully entered the Moon’s orbit on Saturday. Chandrayaan-3 was launched 22 days ago to land on the South Pole of the Moon, where no country has reached so far. “I am feeling the gravity of the moon,” Chandrayaan-3 sent a message to ISRO after carrying out the necessary procedures from the space unit in Bengaluru that brought Chandrayaan-3 closer to the Moon without any glitches.
India’s mission Chandrayaan-3, after covering a distance of 3 lakh 84 thousand 400 km, came out of the sphere of gravity of the Earth and entered the Moon’s orbit on Saturday. According to ISRO scientists, it took a total of half an hour to execute this process and Chandrayaan was brought into the Moon’s orbit.
Now from here Chandrayaan-3 will be taken to the moon in a phased manner. In the coming 17 days, Chandrayaan-3 will reach the Moon by crossing four more orbits of the Moon. That is, if everything continues as per the schedule, then on August 23, a soft landing of Chandrayaan 3 will be done on the south pole of the Moon.
