Mumbai: After a long gap B’wood diva Anushka Sharma is all set to return to the silver screen with her upcoming film, Chakda Xpress. After post pregnancy’s, Anushka will be seen essaying the role of Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami, which is set for OTT release. The actress started working on the film in February and she has now wrapped up the first shooting schedule of the film.
Taking to Instagram, she shared an interesting picture of herself holding a ball. There are words written on the ball that reads, “It’s a schedule wrap!’
According to the reports, Anushka Sharma and the team of Chakda Xpress are set to kick-start the international schedule this month. Reportedly, the team will fly out to UK for an extensive schedule.
Apart from the UK, the film will also be shot in India. Opening up about Clean Slate Filmz backing Chakda Xpress, Anushka said, “A film of this scale needed tremendous prep in all departments and we are glad that Chakda Xpress has started off in style. Chakda Xpress is a delightful script that intends to make strong statements and I’m proud to creatively collaborate with my producer brother, Karnesh Ssharma and my director, Prosit Roy, to tell a fascinating underdog story of a woman.”
Speaking about Chakda Xpress, Anushka had shared, “It is a really special film because it is essentially a story of tremendous sacrifice. Chakda Xpress is inspired by the life and times of former Indian captain Jhulan Goswami and it will be an eye-opener into the world of women’s cricket. At a time when Jhulan decided to become a cricketer and make her country proud on the global stage, it was very tough for women to even think of playing the sport. This film is a dramatic retelling of several instances that shaped her life and also women’s cricket.”
Anushka’s film is set for release on Netflix in 2023. Her last theatrical release was Zero with Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif.
