Baramulla: On Sunday, Jammu and Kashmir Police said three terrorist associates linked to the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba organization have been arrested with arms and ammunition in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. During a checking operation at Kalgai near Jhula Foot Bridge on November 25, a joint team of Baramulla Police, 13 Sikhli and 185 Bn BSF stopped two suspicious persons carrying bags from Kamalkot towards NHW.
They were identified as Zameer Ahmad Khanday, son of Azeem Khanday resident of Madiyan Kamalkote and Mohammad Naseem Khanday, son of Abdul Majeed Khanday resident of Madiyan Kamalkote, said official.
During sustained interrogation, both the suspects revealed that the illegally obtained hand grenades and money were received from Manzoor Ahmed Bhatti, resident of Madiyan Kamalkote. Bhatti allegedly provided these materials for the purpose of carrying out potential terrorist activities. After this, Manzoor Ahmed Bhatti was taken for questioning. Accordingly, Manzoor Ahmed Bhatti was picked up for questioning.
During interrogation, he confessed to supplying illegally obtained grenades and money to individuals to carry out terrorist acts. He also revealed that he had deposited a hand grenade and Rs 2.17 lakh at a place near his residence.
Following their disclosure, another Chinese hand grenade and the mentioned amount of cash were recovered. Manzoor Ahmed Bhatti was arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation. Police said, they were working as terrorist associates and were associated with the banned terrorist organization Lashkar/TRF. TRF or The Resistance Front is the shadow organization of Lashkar-e-Taiba.
