Mumbai: Actress Jacqueline Fernandez was stopped at the Mumbai Airport on Sunday by immigration officials as Enforcement Directorate has opened a LOC (Look Out Circular) against the actor in the Sukesh Chandrasekar case. Ms Fernandez was scheduled to fly to Dubai for a show.
The 36-year-old was, however, let go after brief questioning and was informed that she has to appear before the central probe agency in Delhi. The ED will issue fresh summons to her for appearing at the Delhi office today.
Meanwhile, the ED has filed a charge sheet in a Delhi court against conman Sukesh Chandrasekar and others in the 200-crore money laundering case, accusing him of extorting ₹ 200 crore from a businessman’s wife while he was lodged in Tihar jail.
The central agency has unearthed evidence showing financial transactions from Chandrasekar to Ms Fernandez. A horse worth ₹ 52 lakh and a Persian cat worth ₹ 9 lakh were among gifts worth ₹ 10 crores given by Chandrashekar to Sri Lankan beauty Ms Fernandez, the ED has reportedly claimed in its charge sheet.
Investigation into alleged proceeds of crime reaching the Bollywood actor from Sukesh is still on, and the actor is to be probed again.
Along with Jacqueline, the charge sheet also mentions actress Nora Fatehi, who has been questioned in the case. Ms Fernandez and her aides have also been questioned.
Chandrashekar had earlier told the media that he had gifted a luxury car to Ms Fatehi.
Earlier, Nora Fatehi had issued a statement claiming that she was not part of any money laundering activity. “Nora Fatehi has been the victim around the case and being a witness, she is co-operating and helping the officers in the investigation. We would like to make it very clear that she has not been a part of any money laundering activity, she does not know or have any personal connection with the accused and has been called by the ED to strictly help with the investigation,” the statement read.
