The Jalebi Baba became famous as a tantric (occult) figure, so women used to come to him to solve their problems. The accused had developed a tendency to drug the women, make them unconscious, and then rape them. He always used to record the rape scene, and after that, he blackmailed the victim, demanding money or threatening to make the video public
Amarpuri; the 63-year-old baba was sentenced to 14 years in prison by additional district judge Balwant Singh under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POSCO) Act for raping a minor two times, as well as 7 years in prison in each of two separate rape cases under Section 376-C of the Indian Penal Code and 5 years in prison under Section 67-A of the Information Technology Act. But he was acquitted in an Arms Act case.
According to Sanjay Verma, the victims’ counsel, all the penalties will be served simultaneously, and the godman will serve 14 years in prison.
On January 5, the Fatehabad court found self-styled godman Amarveer, also known as Amarpuri alias Billu, guilty of rape. The godman burst into tears in the courtroom after he was convicted by the judge.
Among the huge number of victims, six of them appeared in court, and on the basis of their statements, the court pronounced the judgment.
Amarpuri was a chief priest of Baba Balak Nath Mandir, situated in Haryana in Tohana. The Haryana Police arrested him in 2018 in Tohana, a town near Fatehabad, and recovered 120 purported sex video clippings from his mobile phone.
