Jammu and Kashmir: Former CM Farooq Abdullah resigns from the post of National Conference President

Srinagar: On Friday, Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has resigned from the post of National Conference President.

Srinagar: On Friday, Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has resigned from the post of National Conference President.

National Conference (JKNC) party while addressing his party workers in Srinagar.The JKNC patron said, “My health doesn’t permit me to lead the party now.”

The new party president is to be elected on December 5 with party vice-president and former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah being the likely successor. In an emotional speech, Abdullah urged party leaders to take control of the situation and work towards strengthening the party.

He also highlighted challenges faced by locals and advised party officials to collaborate closely with them. “I will not be contesting for the post of president any longer. The elections for the post will be held on December 5. It is time for the new generation to take over the responsibilities,” Abdullah said, adding that anyone from the party can contest for the post as it is a democratic exercise.
