Two terrorists of Ansar Gajwat-ul Hind (APUG) affiliated with Al-Qaeda in the encounter with security forces on Wednesday in Srinagar's Naagam police station area have been identified, Police said.
Jammu-Kashmir: A breaking development in this case, two terrorists of Al Qaeda affiliated Ansar Ghazwat-ul Hind (AGUH) were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Nowgam police station area of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday have been identified, Police said. In a series of tweets, Kashmir Zone Police said that the terrorists were affiliated with terror group Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.

Police identified the two terrorists as Aijaz Rasool Nazar from Pulwama and Shahid Ahmad alias Abu Hamza. Police said that both the slain terrorists were involved in several attacks on police, security forces and civilians. An AK-series rifle, two pistols and a grenade have been recovered from the encounter site, police said.
“During the search operation, as the joint search party approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which was retaliated effectively leading to an encounter,” Police said. Kashmir Zone Police tweeted that based on input generated by police “an encounter has started in Nowgam area of Srinagar sistrict. Srinagar Police and 50RR are on the job. According to the information, they were also involved in recent attack on an non-local labourer namely Muneer-ul-Islam of West Bengal on September 2, 2022, at Ugergund Newa area of Pulwama,” Police said. One terrorist had been killed by 8.46 pm and at 9.13 pm, Kashmir Zone Police said that the second terrorist had also been killed. This encounter comes days after an unidentified terrorist was killed and a security personnel injured in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in the Heff Shirmal area of the district following information about the presence of terrorists there, a police official said.While one security force personnel was injured in the gun battle, an unidentified terrorist was shot dead, the official said.
