In a dramatic turn of events, 17-year-old JEE aspirant, Piyush, who went missing from his hostel in Kota on February 13, has been located in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, after 11 days of relentless search efforts.
Piyush, originally from Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, had been residing in Kota’s Indra Vihar hostel for the past two years, dedicatedly preparing for the IIT-JEE exams. His sudden disappearance triggered concerns among family members and authorities, prompting an immediate and extensive search operation.
Senior police officer Amrita Duhan revealed that the search operation spanned different locations, with teams diligently following leads to trace Piyush’s whereabouts. The breakthrough came when intelligence suggested his presence in Dehradun, leading to dispatching teams to both Dehradun and Haridwar.
Following the leads, the police tracked Piyush to Dharamshala, where he was taken into custody with the collaboration of local law enforcement. Family members accompanied the police team during this crucial phase.
Current reports suggest that Piyush’s mental condition is unstable, and he is unwilling to share any information. Plans are underway to bring him back to Kota for counseling, with subsequent questioning aimed at unraveling the circumstances that led him from Kota to Dharamshala.
Piyush’s father, Maheshchand Kapasia, revealed that the last contact with his son was on the morning of February 13. Piyush, after speaking to his mother, stopped answering calls and turned off his phone. His family reported him missing when he didn’t return to his hostel room after a test.
In Kota, the family discovered that Piyush had recently taken the JEE-Mains exam, achieving a score of only 13 percentile. Despite two years of dedicated preparation, the teenager faced academic challenges, leading to heightened concerns about his well-being.
CCTV footage from the Kota railway station became the last visual trace of Piyush, depicting him carrying a bag before his disappearance. The mystery surrounding his journey from Kota to Dharamshala adds another layer to this unfolding story.
