Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren went on to play drums with local folk artists and clicked selfies with participants.
Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has taken a sigh of relief after the recent high-voltage drama. In fact, he faced all the backlash of his political nemesis with courage and won the trust vote in the Jharkhand Assembly. Political peace has been restored in the state for the time being.
Soren diverted his mind by attending Karam Puja celebrations held in Ranchi and playing the “Mandar,” a traditional folk musical instrument. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief went on to play the drums with local folk artists and clicked selfies with participants.
The Karam Puja festival is celebrated in the state as a harvest festival wherein people pay their tribute to the Karam tree. Youngsters from the community go to the forest with drummers and cut some branches from the Karam tree for worship.
As per tradition, the branches have to be carried out by the unmarried girls who observe the fast. It is the belief of the tribal community that when unmarried girls observe the fast, a bumper harvest is predicted all over the year. Besides this, they also keep a fast with the hope of the betterment of their families during this festival.
Jharkhand CM celebration is in the limelight because Soren proved that he is still the boss of the state and his popularity hasn’t diminished among the people. He lashed out at the BJP for creating an atmosphere of ‘civil war and riots’ in the state with the aim of toppling the government.
