Jharkhand: On Saturday, an official said that a Spanish woman on a bike tour with her husband was gangraped in Dumka district of Jharkhand on late Friday night. After getting information about this incident police reached on the spot.
According to the information, the incident took place in Kurumahat of Hansdiha police station area. Police said that the woman and her husband are bikers and they were living in a tent in Kunji village of Dumka.
He aaded that at the time of the incident, the couple had set out to Bihar’s Bhagalpur on a bike. Three people have been arrested in the case, the police said.
Jarmundi Sub Divisional Police Officer Santosh Kumar said media, “The incident of gangrape occurred on Friday night.” Around 8 to 10 men are believed to have committed the crime.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) team has been constituted to probe into the matter. Forensic experts have also been roped in. The tourist couple was going towards Bihar’s Bhagalpur via Dumka and had stopped near the Hansdiha market to spend the night in the tent.
The couple first went to Pakistan from where they had gone to Bangladesh, before arriving in Dumka. They were planning to go to Nepal from Jharkhand. They were also beaten by the men who allegedly raped the woman.
The police said that the victim is currently undergoing medical tests at the Phulo Jhano Medical College Hospital in Dumka. Dumka Superintendent of Police reached the spot on Friday night and has been camping there since then. He aaded that at present the matter is under investigation and the detained people are being interrogated.
