Srinagar: In a recent operation, Security forces foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir by killing one terrorists, a defence spokesperson said on Wednesday. The terrorists were trying to illegally cross into Indian territory taking advantage of poor visibility and bad weather and the security forces are actively conducting operations to locate any other potential threats in the region.
In a statement, the Indian Army said: “Infiltration bid foiled by the troops in Uri sector along the Line of Control (LoC), one terrorist killed, operation in progress. The terrorists were trying to infiltrate taking advantage of poor visibility and bad weather.”

The latest operation occurred in the northern Kashmir region’s Uri sector, situated in Baramulla district. Vigilant troops responded promptly to prevent armed terrorists from breaching Indian territory. The encounter involved a firefight between the security forces and the infiltrating militants, resulting in the recovery of six pistols and four hand grenades from the intruders. The ongoing efforts underline the commitment of the security forces to maintaining the integrity and security of the region.”
Earlier on Thursday, a militant from The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was shot dead in an encounter with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district.
The security forces had begun by a cordon and search operation in the Kathohalan area of South Kashmir after receiving information about the presence of militants, according to reports.
During the operation, the militants opened fire on the security personnel which prompted them to retaliate.
