Three soldiers of the Indian Army's 56 Rashtriya Rifles were trapped in an avalanche near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara sector while on duty in Machil area on Friday. The bodies of the army personnel have been recovered.
Srinagar: There is news of the martyrdom of three army soldiers in the midst of snowfall in Kashmir. Three soldiers of the Indian Army’s 56 Rashtriya Rifles were trapped in an avalanche near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara sector while on duty in Machil area on Friday.
The bodies of the army personnel have been recovered. The bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty in inclement weather conditions at icy heights and in difficult terrain were identified as Souvik Hazra, Mukesh Kumar and Gaikwad Manoj Laxman Rao.
As Kashmir witness heavy snowfall. An army bunker in Machil in Kupwara district of Kashmir came under the grip of an avalanche. In this, 3 army soldiers died. Army rescued and took out the dead bodies. All the three bodies have been sent to 168 Military Hospital Durg Mulla. After this accident, high officials of the army have also reached the spot. The relatives of the jawans have been informed about the incident.
Significantly, in February 2022 also, seven soldiers of the Indian Army were martyred in an avalanche in the Kameng sector of Arunachal Pradesh. Army personnel had gone missing after being hit by an avalanche in Tawang district. Later their bodies were recovered during the search operation. The martyred soldiers were identified as Havildar Jugal Kishore, Gunner Gurbaj Singh and Riflemen Arun Kattal, Akshay Pathania, Vishal Sharma, Rakesh Singh and Ankesh Bhardwaj.
