J&K: Former CM Mehbooba Mufti asked to vacate her allotted residence in Anantnag within 24 hours

Mehbooba Mufti, former chief minister of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir and president of the Peoples Democratic Party, along with three former MLAs have been instructed to vacate the government quarters. All of them were living in government quarters located in Khannabal area, a housing colony in Anantnag district of South Kashmir.

Srinagar: Mehbooba Mufti, former chief minister of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir and president of the Peoples Democratic Party, along with three former MLAs have been instructed to vacate the government quarters. All of them were living in government quarters located in Khannabal area, a housing colony in Anantnag district of South Kashmir.

Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti along with three other former MLAs were served eviction notices by the Executive Magistrate of Anantnag on the instructions of the Anantnag Deputy Commissioner. Three former MLAs Abdul Rahim Rather, Abdul Majeed Butt and Mohammad Altaf Wani have been issued notices to vacate government quarters number 4, 6 and 1 within 24 hours while Mehbooba Mufti is staying in quarter number 7.

As per the notice, the government quarters are located at the Housing Colony Khanabal and the occupants have been warned of legal action if they fail to vacate the premises within the given time.

Mehbooba was living in a government bungalow named View located on Gupkar Marg since 2018. After this, the administration once again sent a final notice to vacate the government residence on October 26.

It was mentioned in it that by November 15, he would have to leave the government bungalow. However, earlier on October 15, he was instructed by the Estate Department to vacate the bungalow. After this, Mehbooba had earlier given a statement saying that she is taking legal opinion in this context but after a few days she said that this residence does not matter to her. She’ll empty it.
