Jammu and Kashmir: On Thursday morning, security forces killed a terrorist belonging to the banned organization The Resistance Front (TRF), a branch of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), in Kaitohalan area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district. According to details, firing was reported from Katohlane area.
A joint operation by the local police and the Indian Army began in the wee hours. The slain terrorist, identified as Myser Ahmad Dar, was affiliated with the terror outfit The Resistance Front (TRF), news agency reported, quoting Kashmir Zone Police. According to the Kashmir zone police, incriminating materials, including arms and ammunition, were recovered from the encounter site.
In a post on X, Kashmir Zone Police said, “#ShopianEncounterUpdate: One (01) #terrorist affiliated with proscribed #terror outfit TRF neutralised. Incriminating materials including arms & ammunition recovered. Search going on. Further details shall follow.”

The operation is currently in progress as security forces are conducting a search to ensure there are no additional threats in the area. The gunfight started after a joint team of police and security forces received an input about the presence of terrorists in that area. After security forces cordoned off the area, terrorists hiding there started firing drawing retaliation from the security forces.
