J&K: SIA arrests 2 more terrorists absconding for over 30 years in Doda

New Delhi: On Saturday, Two more terrorists, who were on the run for over 30 years, have been arrested by the Special Investigation Agency from Jammu and Kashmir Doda district, officials said. He said the two had taken training in Pakistan and were wanted by the police for their active involvement in militancy in their home district in the 1990s.

New Delhi: On Saturday, Two more terrorists, who were on the run for over 30 years, have been arrested by the Special Investigation Agency from Jammu and Kashmir Doda district, officials said. He said the two had taken training in Pakistan and were wanted by the police for their active involvement in militancy in their home district in the 1990s.

The accused are Firdaus Ahmad Wani of Ghat village and Khurshid Ahmad Malik of Bharat village. With the latest arrests, a total of 10 terrorists, who were on the run for decades in the Jammu region, have been nabbed since August 31. Most of those arrested are residents of Doda district.

The Special Investigation Agency (SIA), in pursuance of its larger objective and mandate of achieving “zero terrorism” in Jammu and Kashmir, has been tasked to trace all fugitives of terror-related cases and produce them before the court. A special campaign has been started.

Out of a total of 734 fugitives, including 417 in Kashmir and 317 in Jammu, 327 are wanted under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) and Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA), SIA has so far verified and identified 369 fugitives.

He said that out of 369 verified absconders, 80 have died, 45 are living in Pakistan or Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and other countries, 127 are untraceable and four are lodged in jails.
