Ranchi: 44-Year-old Suspended IAS officer Pooja Singhal has not got relief from the court. On completion of the judicial custody, she appeared in the special court of Enforcement Directorate in Ranchi on Wednesday through video conferencing. The court extended the judicial custody of Pooja Singhal and sent her to jail again for 14 days. In this way, Pooja Singhal will remain in jail for now. His next appearance in the court has been fixed for June 22.
Pooja Singhal was produced through video conferencing from jail itself in the court of ED Special Judge Prabhat Kumar Sharma. During this, Special Public Prosecutor BMP Singh and Puja Singhal’s advocate appeared on behalf of the ED. Later, ED’s advocate BMP Singh told reporters that suspended IAS Pooja Singhal was sent to judicial custody after being questioned by the ED, whose term ended today.
Due to this, after the expiry of the period of judicial custody, Pooja Singhal was produced before the court through video conferencing. He said that no application has been given by the ED to take Pooja Singhal or Suman Kumar on remand again. If necessary, remand can be sought or with the permission of the court, interrogation can be done by going to jail.
The arrest took place soon after Pooja Singhal appeared before the ED for questioning in the case. The ED had seized a total of Rs 19.31 crore in cash from two premises that were searched in the state capital Ranchi.
About Rs 17.51 crore cash was recovered from the premises of a Ranchi-based Chartered Accountant-cum-financial advisor whose links with the IAS officer and her family were reported.
