Joshimath Subsidence: PM Modi speaks to Chief Minister Dhami regarding Joshimath crisis, assures help from Center

Joshimath Land Subsidence: Joshimath is slowly cracking and big cracks are coming in its houses, roads, fields. Local people said that many houses have caved in.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday (January 8) talked to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami about land subsidence in Joshimath. The PM assured the Chief Minister of all possible help from the Center to the state in view of this incident. Uttarakhand CM Dhami (Pushkar Singh Dhami) said, “PM Modi (PM Modi) talked to me on the telephone and asked about the situation in Joshimath and the steps taken for the rehabilitation and security of the people.”

CM Dhami said, “The situation in Joshimath is being analysed. We will also see whether other hill towns have achieved the limit of tolerance.” Uttarakhand CM said, “PM Modi assured all possible help to save Joshimath.”

PMO called a meeting

Following incidents of land subsidence in Joshimath area of ​​Chamoli district in Uttarakhand and cracks in houses at many places, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) will hold a high-level meeting on this crisis on Sunday. According to an official statement, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister PK Mishra will hold a review meeting with the Cabinet Secretary, senior officers of the Central Government, members of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

Joshimath district administration and senior officials of Uttarakhand government will also participate in this meeting through video conference. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had also visited Joshimath on the previous day to take stock of the situation. A day before this, he had directed to take about 600 affected families to safer places immediately.

Many families have migrated from Joshimath

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami also directed to set up a coordination committee under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary and at the local level under the chairmanship of Commissioner Garhwal for the help and relief and rescue of the affected people. Joshimath is the gateway to famous pilgrimage centers like Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib and the international skiing resort of Auli. A total of 66 families have so far fled from Joshimath after cracks appeared in their houses.
