As per the reports, Vandana was travelling from Agra to Delhi by Bhopal Shatabdi Express on Friday and the Congress leader Jyotiraditya was in the same coach. While the train stopped for nearly 150 minutes at the outer signal of Delhi the woman, who was sitting beside Scindia, felt pain in her chest and collapsed. Scindia quickly informed the guard and the driver asking them for emergency medical facilities but he was told that there were no such facilities available.

Without wasting a minute, the Congress leader informed the newly appointed railway minister Piyush Goyal and the Divisional Railway Manager (North Central Railways) in Agra for assistance. Around 2:30 am, the ambulance sent by the railways took the woman to a hospital in Delhi. Scindia accompanied the ambulance to the hospital where he was informed that any more delay could have been dangerous for her life.
