New Delhi: A new twist has emerged in the painful accident in Kanjhawala area of Sultanpuri, Delhi. When the Delhi Police was tracing the route of the deceased Anjali, they came to know that there was another girl on the scooty with Anjali. When Anjali met with an accident that night, the girl was sitting behind her.
According to police sources, the other girl suffered minor injuries during the accident and went to her home from the spot. But Anjali’s legs got stuck in the axle of the car, after which the accused sitting in the car kept dragging Anjali. The police have traced the girl, the police will also record the statement of the girl.
At the same time, a CCTV of about 15 minutes before the accident has also come to the fore. Victim is seen leaving a hotel at 1.45 am after a New Year party. Victim Anjali is in Pink T-shirt, while her friend Nidhi is in Red T-shirt. Scooty is being driven by Nidhi, while Anjali is sitting behind. They are seen getting on the two-wheeler and driving away. Here, it is Nidhi who is driving and Anjali is riding pillion. Anjali, it is learnt, later said she wants to drive and the two swapped places.
The accident took place at Sultanpuri in west Delhi. The five men in the car have admitted that they were drunk at the time of the crash. Panicked, they drove away, unaware that Anjali was dragged along, the accused have told police.
Deepak Khanna, who was at the wheel, has told police that as they drove away, he felt “something was stuck”, but others dismissed him.
The car reportedly drove for about 13 km, dragging the 20-year-old woman through the streets. When the car was taking a U-turn at Kanjhawala, one of the accused, Mithun, saw her hand under the vehicle. When the car stopped, the body got down. The accused then fled from the spot, he told the police.
