Lucknow: A Massive fire broke out during the early hours on Friday in AR Tower in Basmandi area in Kanpur. 15-16 fire tenders on the spot to douse the fire. In which more than 500 shops were burnt down. Dousing operation underway for 6 hours. It will take 3-4 hours more to control the fire. According to the report, more than 20 billion i.e. more than two thousand crores have been lost in the accident.
However, no casualty was reported in the incident as people were evacuated from the buildings in time. Kanpur Joint CP Anand Prakash Tiwari said, efforts are being made to control the fire, rescue work is going on for 5-6 hours. 15-16 fire engines are engaged in putting out the fire. Army, Airforce vehicles are also present. The fire is expected to be brought under control in the next 3-4 hours.
According to the information, the fire broke out in the AR tower of Hamraj Complex Textile Bazar located in Bansmandi which soon engulfed other nearby towers. The fire started due to a short circuit after which the goods kept outside the shops were caught in the fire and due to strong winds it spread to several shops. After this, the entire three-storied tower burst into flames. Its flames spread to the adjacent Masood Tower and then to Masood Complex-2 and then to Hamraj Complex.
The fire caused extensive damage to the area, with five apartment complexes destroyed. Local authorities have initiated measures to provide relief to the affected people, including temporary shelter and food. The daily life of the people of the area has also been disrupted by this incident. Traffic has been affected in the surrounding areas and people are being advised to stay away from the area till the situation is under control.
