Lucknow: A 17-year-old boy, Kushagra Kanodia, who was a hard-working class 10 student, was lured to a store room by his teacher Rachita’s boyfriend, Prabhat Shukla. In a horrific turn of events, the boy’s murder was covered up by a ransom note, a cruel deception that alludes to a kidnapping.

Teen was allegedly abducted after he left home for a coaching institute in the Swaroop Nagar area Monday evening. His father, Manish Kanodia, runs a textile business in Surat. The victim stayed with his grandfather, Sanjay Kanodia, also a leading textile businessman, based in Kanpur.

After examining the CCTV footage, the police said that the boy willingly followed Prabhat from his house to the store room. Prabhat tells him that his teacher Rachita is calling him, so he follows him.

Police say that the boy and Prabhat can be seen entering the room together. Prabhat comes out after about 20 minutes, but the boy does not. Based on a prima facie, cops say no one else seems to have entered the room after that.

Prabhat allegedly changed his clothes and abandoned the boy’s scooter, a deliberate attempt to conceal the crime.

Police have apprehend Prabhat, 21-year-old Rachita, and their friend Aryan in the case.

They say that the family had also received a letter demanding ransom. But preliminary investigation has revealed that the boy had been murdered before the letter was delivered.

“Preliminary investigation unveils the 17-year-old was murdered before the letter asking for ransom. The threat letter was a tactic to divert attention,” police said. The motive behind this heinous act remains a mystery to investigators.
