Karnataka: 5 people die after car falls into canal in Mandya district

Mandya: In a road accident in Karnataka's Mandya district. At least five people died after their car fell into the canal near Pandavapura district of Mandya. According to information, the accident took place near Bannaghatta in Pandavpur taluk. A rescue operation was launched after the police received the information, Mandya Police said.

Mandya: In a road accident in Karnataka’s Mandya district. At least five people died after their car fell into the canal near Pandavapura district of Mandya. According to information, the accident took place near Bannaghatta in Pandavpur taluk.

A rescue operation was launched after the police received the information, Mandya Police said. Those who died in the accident were identified as Chandrappa (61), Krishnappa (60), Dhananjay (55), Babu and Jayanna. The incident took place when the car was returning from Mysore to Bhadravati.

According to the information received, the deceased was a resident of Gungarhalli, Nonvinakere, Tipturu and lived in Bhadravati. After this accident the police reached the spot and engaged the fire brigade and divers in rescue operations. Meanwhile, the car was pulled out of the canal. According to information received from the police, Chandrappa, a resident of Bhadravati in Shimoga district, was returning to Bhadravati from Mysore in his car, but at a bend on the way, his car went out of control and hit a barricade and fell into the canal.

After receiving the information about the accident, District Magistrate Kumar, District Superintendent of Police N. Yatish, Sub Divisional Officer Nandish, Tehsildar Santosh visited the spot and inspected. “As per the information we got, they attended a program in Mysore. 5 people died and we’ll do a post-mortem examination. We have informed their family members. They’re all relatives as per our information. We have shifted bodies,” according to Nandish, Deputy Divisional Officer,
